Cookie Policy

Last updated: 13 August 2026

A handful of small first-party cookies, one of them just to remember that you said no to the others.

Written in plain language by the people who run VoxelRank. It describes what this site actually does · it is not legal advice, and it does not replace advice from a qualified lawyer in your country.

The cookies we set#

This is every cookie VoxelRank can set, what it is for and how long it lives. Essential cookies are the ones without which the feature you asked for simply cannot work · they do not need your consent, but you should still know about them. Optional cookies are never set until you accept them.

CookiePurposeDurationEssential?
__gads / __gpi / _gcl_*
Third party · Google
Google AdSense. Frequency capping (so you are not shown the same ad repeatedly), invalid-traffic detection and aggregate reporting. Ads are served in non-personalised mode, so these are not used to build an advertising profile of you. Nothing loads until you accept optional cookies. Up to 13 months Optional
sid
First party
Keeps you signed in. Holds a random session id only · no personal data is stored in the cookie itself. 30 days Essential
lang
First party
Remembers the interface language you picked so we do not fall back to your browser header on every visit. 1 year Essential
theme
First party
Remembers your dark/light choice. Your browser may also store the same choice locally under the key "vs-theme". 1 year Essential
flash
First party
Carries a one-off confirmation or error message across a redirect ("Vote counted", "Saved"). 30 seconds Essential
consent
First party
Stores your cookie choice ("essential" or "all") so we stop asking. Without it we cannot honour your decision. 1 year Essential
ign
First party
Remembers the in-game name you last voted with, so you do not retype it on every server, and so a vote reminder can be switched on in one tap. It is the name you already publish by voting. 1 year Essential
anon
First party
A random id that lets you keep saved searches without an account. It is not linked to any other data. 1 year Essential
fav
First party
Your favourited servers while you are not signed in. Holds server ids only, and moves onto your account if you register. 1 year Essential
swipe_id / swipe_q
First party
The "Find my server" deck: a random id so the same server is not shown twice, and the filters you last swiped with. 180 days Essential
Tebex checkout cookies
Third party (Tebex)
Set by Tebex only if you start a payment for a premium listing, to keep your basket and prevent payment fraud. No Tebex cookie is set until you open a checkout. Set by Tebex, typically the session up to 1 year Optional

Your browser may also keep a local-storage entry named vs-theme with your dark/light preference. It never leaves your device and is not sent with requests.

Storage that is not a cookie#

Two things here are not cookies but are close enough that you should know about them. Neither is set until you ask for it, and neither is used for tracking.

  • A service worker (/sw.js) is registered only when you switch on vote reminders. It exists to receive one kind of message · "you can vote again" · and to open the vote page when you tap it. It caches nothing and reads nothing about your browsing. Removing the site's data in your browser settings, or switching reminders off, unregisters it.
  • A push subscription, created by your browser and held by us, is what a reminder is delivered to. It is an address at your browser vendor's push service, not an identifier we invented, and it is deleted when you turn reminders off. What it holds is set out in the privacy policy.

If you install this site to your home screen, that install is entirely local to your device · we are not told about it. On iPhone and iPad it is, however, the only way Apple allows notifications at all.

Your current choice#

Right now this browser is set to: essential cookies only.

The default before you choose anything is essential-only, and it stays that way if you ignore the banner. No analytics, advertising or profiling script runs on this site while your choice is essential-only.

What we deliberately do not do#

  • No personalised advertising. Ads on this site are contextual · matched to the page, not to you. We would need a certified consent platform to serve personalised ads in the EU/UK, and we have chosen not to.
  • No retargeting pixels, and no ad script at all until you accept optional cookies.
  • No cross-site tracking of our own, and no sharing or selling of user data to brokers or advertisers.
  • No fingerprinting scripts, and no third-party JavaScript beyond the ad units themselves.
  • Traffic statistics, if we ever add them, will be aggregate and cookie-free, or gated behind "accept all".

Third-party content on our pages#

Two things on this site load from someone else's server and therefore see your IP address:

  • Player avatars next to recent votes, rendered by minotar.net. They do not set cookies for us, but the request itself is visible to them.
  • Tebex checkout, only after you click to buy a premium listing. Tebex sets its own cookies at that point, under its own policy.

Blocking third-party images or scripts in your browser will not break anything important here.

Controlling cookies in your browser#

Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies in its privacy settings, and offers a private window that discards them when you close it. Blocking our essential cookies will sign you out and reset your language and theme on every page load, but the site will otherwise still work.

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal by treating it as "essential only". We do not act on the older Do Not Track header, which browsers have effectively abandoned.

Trademarks and affiliation#
